OPERATION:
Wrench Actuated Lubricated Plug Valves close by turning clockwise. Indication marks are provided on the stem to show the port position.
Multiport Lubricated Plug Valves are arranged for 90o, 180o, or 270o travel. Indication marks show Port Position. Stops are provided to limit the travel in the extreme (but not intermediate) positions.
Gear Actuated Lubricated Plug Valves are closed by turning the handwheel clockwise, opened by turning it counter-clockwise. Indication marks are provided to show the port position at any time.
MAINTENANCE:
The only maintenance required on Wrench Actuated Lubricated Plug Valves is periodic re-lubrication with valve sealant. Frequency of re-lubrication should be established for each specific service.
Use only Plug Valve Sealant approved for the service.
Plug Valves should be lubricated in the full open and the full closed positions, but not in intermediate position. Cycle valve a few times and re-lube.
Sealant can best be injected into Lubricated Plug Valves by using a sealant gun which clops onto the standard giant button head fitting.
Be careful not to remove the fitting at the bottom of the body with pressure in the valve, it is not protected by a check valve like that in the stem
Lubricated Plug Valves are designed so that complete lubrication will be shown by sealant extruding around the stem when injecting the sealant.
INSTALLATION:
All Straightway Lubricated Plug Valves are symmetrical and can be installed for flow in either direction. Multi-port valves come in a variety of "styles" and the flow indication marks should be checked to ensure that the required switch-over is obtained.
Threaded Valves have taper threads in accordance with ANSI B2.1 standard.
Flanged Valves have flanges to ANSI B16.1 class 125. Where there is no room for nuts behind the flanges, the flange holes are tapped for UNC-2B threads.
End protectors, when supplied on the valves should be left in position until the last possible moment.
New valves stored for three months before use should be re-lubed and cycled before installation.
After the valves are installed, the recommended sealant should be injected.
